QUESTION OF THE WEEK!

Okay guys and gals! I've been racking my little brain about "The Question of The Week" and here it is:
How do we make David stay here longer?
Yes, this is his last week here and I'm really bummed! He's flying back home to Oklahoma on Saturday and then going back to Harding University for his second year of college.
We are going to really miss him and if you can help me think of a plan to keep him here longer than you'll get a free bee! :) So, you know the drill... get some scripture to support your answers and if your answer is the best than our next youth group trip is free!
Be prepared for a more challenging question next week!
Oh, and if no one can think of a good answer then make sure everyone gets to church Wednesday night for a "thanks for all you've done" celebration for David! I need my interns to start calling the peeps! :)

YouthWAVE
Okay- I'm back and I'm fired up!
What an awesome week we had! If you are a Christian and in high school, you need to get your 2006 calendar and mark out the week of July 10th for YouthWAVE. I've been to a lot of youth events in my life and they've all been great, but none as spiritually intense as this one. I learned so much about witnessing, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Mission and myself. It was awesome! The speaker was so inspiring. We sang our hearts out. We prayed so much we lost our voices. We learned so much I came home with four notebooks full of information. It was intense! We were so busy that no one noticed there were no t.v.s, computers or radios on the entire Pepperdine campus! It was awesome and my life will never be the same. Every day we went out witnessing to homeless people, tourist, families, lonely people, and street kids. It was a huge leap of faith and took a lot of courage to approach people and talk to them about Jesus and his love. It was even more amazing how many people enjoyed being approached and knew Jesus. It was very cool! I'm really excited to see us use what we learned in our lives and youth group. Get ready for some growth! I love you all!

Going Crazy?
Well, as you probably know, Bobbie has been at Pepperdine since Sunday with Gina, Lauren, and Emily. So how have I been holding up without my wife at home? Pretty good, or so I thought! But then I took this test and realized that I think I'm going crazy! I only got one out of four right... and they seem pretty easy! Watch, take it and tell me if I'm wrong...
Test for Dementia
Below are four (4) questions and a bonus question. You have to answer them instantly. You can't take your time, answer all of them immediately. OK?
Let's find out just how clever you really are.
Ready? GO!!!
First Question:
You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?
Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second!
Try not to screw up in the next question. To answer the second question, don't take as much time as you took for the first question.
Second Question: If you overtake the last person, then you are...?
Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST Person?
You're not very good at this! Are you?
Third Question: Very tricky math! Note: This must be done in your head only. Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000 Now add 10. What is the total?
Scroll down for answer.
Did you get 5000?
The correct answer is actually 4100.
Don't believe it? Check with your calculator! Today is definitely not your day. Maybe you will get the last question right?
Fourth Question: Mary's father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono. What is the name of the fifth daughter?
Answer: Nunu?
NO! Of course not. Her name is Mary. Read the question again.
Okay, now the bonus round:
There is a mute person who wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the action of brushing one's teeth he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.
Now if there is a blind man who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses, how should he express himself?
He just has to open his mouth and ask, so simple.
See, simple, huh? I told you I'm going crazy! Well, I'm heading to my doctor's office to see if they can help me out while Bobbie's gone. I'll talk to you all again after I get help!

Worker Bees
Hey guys!
We have a lot going on in the next two weeks and I need some "Worker Bee's".
July 18-22nd our church is hosting Vacation Bible School (VBS). The theme is Serengeti Trek and it's all jungle/safari looking stuff. We need help this week with decorations, moving items in or out of classrooms, painting, coloring, cutting, pasting and other help as well. Tell me or Vince how you can help and I'll make sure the right people know.
July 23rd is Youth Day. It's a special event we host for all the youth groups on the Central Coast. Vince and I desperately need your help with this one. The most important way you can help us out is to bring and friend and plan to attend the entire event. It's from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. It's going to be really fun. We are using the same decorations from VBS, but we are using a "Survivor" theme and calling it "Psalm Safari". The event is free and it includes lunch.
I'm going to be at YouthWAVE for a week and I'm leaving Sunday after church with Emily, Lauren and Gina so I need you all to make sure Vince stays on track.
Sunday, July 17th is Dante's 3rd birthday. We are having a party for him at Waller Park at 2:00 p.m. and you all are invited. He's very excited about his birthday and keeps singing "Happy Birthday to me".
I think that's about it for the month of July. It's a busy, crazy, fun-packed month and I hope you can help and attend.
Love you all!

I got a B?
It sounds like everybody had a good time last night with Jason from York College. While you were all eating pizza and getting free stuff, I was sittin' in class wondering how I got a B on my test! I mean, I ALWAYS get As! Well, after pulling in an 86% on my first test, I will definitely study for the next one! I can't let my 4.0 GPA be ruined with only three classes left, right? Yeah, I was trying to brag right there! Did it work? I doubt it. By the way, when you try to do your homework in class and you are called on to answer a question you don't know, and you try to read the answer off somebody else's homework, and they have bad handwriting, you could end up saying the wrong word and making yourself sound totally stupid. Not that I have ever done that or anything - I'm just saying that could happen!
Anyway, I sure am glad Jason and his wife were able to get up here. I mean, I didn't even get a chance to talk to him in the last few days so he had to check our website for directions. Then he left a message asking me to order pizza but I didn't check my messages until about 9:00pm, so he had to order it when he got here. Then, I forgot to get him a place to spend the night, but the Seniors pulled through and put him up. Luckily, I have some awesome people at church that took care of the situation. Thanks everybody!
Well, here it is - Thursday morning. I need to go get some work done. See you all Sunday!
Bye!

The girls kept coming in - didn't you realize that was what Drew wanted? Anyway, I think I will have a good meeting and then take the afternoon off today so I can catch up on some zzzzzs. Also, I have homework to do tonight for my class tomorrow. OK, you are all in the livingroom still watching the Wiggles... and loving it!
That's all for now - have a great week!

Lance was baptized!
Lance got baptized Friday night at the Morro Bay Church of Christ! Gina, Julie, David, Dante, me and Bobbie were all there to witness this wonderful event! We are very happy for him and his decision to follow Christ!
Because of his decision, God says Lance will have all his sins forgiven and will get the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). Lance's faith has led him to accept Christ as his savior and he was buried with him in baptism and has been given a new life (Romans 6:3-4). How awesome our Lord is to allow us the chance to be called his sons!
After Lance's baptism, we all hung out at the Morro Bay Encampment and sang songs, ate hot dogs and marshmallows, and told stories. It was a super fun night and it was a great reminder of how important God really is! I wish more of you could have been there - you would have some great stories to tell! Be sure to congratulate Lance on his decision and keep him in your prayers. For those of you out there who haven't yet accepted Christ's message... He loves you and is waiting with open arms!
Let me know if you want to learn more! Stay with God!
